Abstract Submission

Pacific Rim Objective Measurement Society (PROMS) invites submissions for the 2021 virtual annual professional meeting symposium. Submissions should be related to psychometrics, measurement, and assessment in the fields of social and behavioral science, including psychology, education, health care, language and other related fields. Empirical, theoretical, methodological, applied, and policy-orientated submissions are acceptable. Submissions about Rasch model in psychological research and educational assessment are greatly appreciated. PROMS 2021 encourages submissions around the globe, and from researchers at all career stages including graduate and undergraduate students.

Submission types for PROMS 2021

Abstract may be submitted for oral presentation or symposium.

  • Oral presentation is an individual, free-standing research presentation. Presentations will be grouped into a single 90-minute chaired session. Typically, the chair briefly introduces the sessions and presenters within 5 minutes, followed by 15 minutes per presentation, audience questions and answers. The chair may adjust the time according to the number of presentations scheduled for the session.
  • Symposium includes a cohesive cluster of presentations on theoretical perspectives and/or empirical studies focusing on a common theme and highlighting conceptual issues and an integration of findings with representations from multiple institutions. Typically, the chair briefly introduces the theme of the symposium, presenters speak for 15 minutes each, and a discussant provides an overview. Symposium is a 90-minute session and all abstracts should be submitted in group, with 1 chair, 1 discussant, and 3-5 presentations.

Submission guidelines for PROMS 2021

All submissions should include the following: a tentative title, name(s) and address(es) of author(s), abstract (no more than 500 words), and a maximum of 5 keywords. Please include the following parts in your abstract: (a) the background of the study, (b) aims of the study, (c) research questions and hypotheses, (d) method, (e) results (preliminary findings are acceptable), and (f) significance of the study. No more than 2 graphics in the form of tables and figures can be attached and these will not be included in the word count. All submissions should be an original work that has not been published elsewhere. All abstracts should be submitted in English.

The date of the full paper submission will be announced later.

Publications

Full paper will go through peer-review procedure and the accepted submissions will be published in Pacific Rim Objective Measurement Symposium (PROMS) 2021 Conference Proceedings in collaboration with the Springer publisher.
