The primary purpose of this workshop is to introduce the Rasch model for measurement, which is revolutionizing testing and research in the social sciences. This workshop will be of particular benefit to participants who are involved in educational or psychological research.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to the theory and practice of Rasch measurement and will include an explanation of the advantages of Rasch analysis over classical approaches to test and questionnaire scores. Subsequent topics will include how Rasch analysis can be applied to dichotomous data (the basic Rasch model), and Likert-style questionnaire data (the Rasch rating scale model).
The second day of the workshop will be largely dedicated to hands-on data analysis and the interpretation of the output from the computer program WINSTEPS . The workshop presenter will provide access to data sets and tutorial sheets for analysis.
